About Us

Welcome to the Southeastern New England Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA/SENE) home to talented public relations professionals in Rhode Island, nearby Massachusetts, and Connecticut.

The chapter was founded and established in 1982. Our mission is to advance and support public relations interests throughout Southeastern New England, promote understanding of and commitment to PRSA’s code of professional standards, foster collegiality, and increase public understanding of the public relations profession.

Read PRSA’s Code of Ethics.

Our members represent the full spectrum of public relations professionals: freelancers, large and small agencies, and corporate and organizational executives and managers.

PRSA/SENE Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement

Diversity and inclusion are crucial to the evolution, growth, and future of PRSA, our PRSA/SENE chapter, and the entire PR and communications profession. Our chapter is committed to fostering the diversity, equity, and inclusion of all of our peers; including and not limited to diversity of race, ethnicity, culture, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, and ability.

We each bring unique value, skill sets, and mindsets at all levels of the PR and communications profession. These defining attributes impact how we approach our work, connect with others and move through the world. We respect, embrace, celebrate, and validate the contributions of our peers and communities, and we are committed to carrying this work forward.

Our chapter is working in tandem with PRSA National and our Northeast District to address this need. The development of the PRSA Diversity Toolkit as well as the establishment of Diversity and Inclusion Officer positions at our national and regional levels are a few of our steps forward. Locally, we are working with our two local PRSSA chapters at Roger Williams University and the University of Rhode Island to mentor and guide young professionals into the field. We are also working within our board to foster connections with organizations in Rhode Island that are advancing this work across our communities. Over the next year, we plan to connect with more organizations and establish strategic priorities for our chapter centered around diversity, equity, and inclusion.
